Happy Holidays!

Won't be posting for the next month-ish as I will be busy with all the holiday festivities that accompanies a large family, a ski trip, and preparing for a very full Spring semester.
Snapped in Downtown Vancouver at Granville Street.

Where I study

Last day of classes the other week. Enjoyed this past semester with my Chinese class, especially because I had this beautiful view from one of my classrooms.

Heading to Kintaro Ramen, a very busy little ramen shop in downtown Vancouver, for mid-day sustenance. Was waiting for the bus with a friend and came across a flock of pigeons chowing down on a dropped sandwich. In the 5 minutes that I was waiting at the stop, the sandwich had all but disappeared.

Morning OJ

Got up early because the amazing November sun was blaring in my eyes. End of semester is coming soon and I will have a test for my Intensive Chinese class. Am writing notes in preparation for the presentation next week.
And although it's freeeeezing outside, the sun made me feel so warm inside and cooled off with delicious orange juice. Nothing beats nice cold orange juice in the morning.

Jason Mraz

Went to the Jason Mraz concert a couple of weeks ago with all my cousins (and for a Filipino family, that's a LOT of cousins). Not much of a fan of Mraz but was very enjoyable.

Another beautiful day in Vancouver, it's getting quite chilly but the sun just keeps on coming! Snapped at the Sinclair Centre in Downtown Vancouver.

Around and around

Downtown Vancouver is the main business, shopping, and night-life district in the Lower Mainland. I absolutely love the area which is why I work and go to school there, and if I could afford it, I'd probably be living there too. Although it's one of the most dense areas in this metro, you can find little bits of peace and quiet without straying too far from the parties.

Reflection Pond

Although it's already well into Fall and almost Winter, we've been getting some nice weather lately here in Vancouver. Was showing my a friend from Korea what a western style university campus is like and snapped this picture in our courtyard on top of the lecture halls. The raised square building is where most of the tutorial classes are held for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and it's basically a giant square on stilts. This courtyard sits in the centre of the square and is home of the Reflection Pond.

Profile Post

sooo... i guess i should introduce myself... the name's anthony.

i'm a chinese-filipino-canadian university student born and raised in vancouver, canada (surprising, i know). and i first started actively blogging back in 2003 when xanga was the craze and then... well, we all know what happened to xanga. took a few years off the internet and showed up here, thought i'd give it another go. i haven't gotten into the micro-blogging craze yet, but i intend to try it out sometime.

i currently have no career goals in life, but a lot of goals in general. for example, someday i want to try living in different asian countries such as japan, korea, or taiwan. one of the steps i'm taking to reach this goal is learning all three languages, and i'll document some of my progress here. i know a bit of japanese, mostly conversational, and have begun studying mandarin. i also have a lot of korean friends from who i pick up some random phrases here and there. eventually i hope to be able to blog in all four languages.

my current activities include eating, dreaming about winning the lottery, and generally spending way too much time on the internet. my favorite color is green and my favorite food is ramen and i used to read lord of the rings every year. i'm very fussy about my hair and usually change my hairstyle every couple of months. i can't whistle or snap but i really like the sound of a hungry stomach. i have a brother that is sometimes temperamental, and a sister that i think is is mildy insane and i have flat thumbs.

so that's a little bit about me. hope you enjoy my blog.
